My Suspicions on Your Silence

The demon-possessed, Trump-supporting Alt-Right movement made headlines Saturday, August 12, by holding their "White Lives Matter" rally, complete with store-bought tiki torches, as they marched through the University of Virginia campus chanting, "White lives matter!" "You will not replace us!" and "Jews will not replace us!" Joe Heim, from The Washington Post, reports: "The march came on the eve of the Unite the Right rally, a gathering of groups from around the country whose members have said they are being persecuted for being white and that white history in America is being erased." (link) "Persecuted for being white" is their rallying cry for legitimacy and, yet, not even one person among white people in this country has ever been lynched merely for being white.

At 11:04 AM, on Saturday morning, I am watching MSNBC as they report on the continuing clashes with the neo-Nazi Alt-Right members and Antifa, the violent anti-Fascist movement that fights the Alt-Right. The Alt-Right are being violent even to members of the Clergy. As one Church of Christ pastor remarked, "Nothing is sacred anymore." She is, of course, right; and these violent times were foretold. We were forewarned about violence, during the end-times (Matt. 24:37-39 with Gen. 6:11; 2 Tim. 3:1 GW), as well as: "For people will love only themselves and their money. They will be boastful and proud, scoffing at God, disobedient to their parents, and ungrateful. They will consider nothing sacred." (2 Tim. 3:2 NLT)

Religious Right leaders, Trump defenders and supporters such as Franklin Graham, Eric Metaxas, James Dobson, Robert Jeffress et al. remain silent about the Alt-Right. Silent! My suspicions on your silence, men, are that you are not bothered by this neo-Nazism because you are not threatened by them. At least in the view of the Alt-Right, you -- Religious Right evangelical leaders -- are one of them, as you support the violent-hearted Donald J. Trump. Now, you have to not only own the abominable notions and lies and corruption that is the Trump administration, but you also are forced to own neo-Nazism -- the antisemitic Alt-Right. Shall I remind you that the Savior you claim as your own was Jewish? Shall I remind you that God's "chosen people" in the Old Testament were the Jewish people?

Whenever the LGBTQ community makes headlines (mostly in a culturally-positive light), Franklin Graham writes up a tirade on Facebook against LGBTQ people. But when the Alt-Right promotes its ideology, politically and sociologically, Franklin and his ilk remain silent. But your despicable silence, Franklin, is deafening. Your inaction is actually action. Your silence actually speaks volumes. You claim Christ and Christianity and betray the same by spewing out hatred for LGBTQ persons while refusing to speak out against the racism and antisemitism of the Alt-Right. You, Franklin Graham, and your Religious Right ilk, prove yourselves to be not children of God, but religious children of the Devil. (cf. John 8:44)

So, a professing Christian on Facebook posts a meme purporting to originate from Trump-supporting Ted Nugent: "Folks keep talkin' about another Civil War. One side has 8 trillion bullets. The other doesn't know which bathroom to use." Yes, actually, there is talk about another civil war -- from the Right! Dana Loesch, speaking snarkly for the NRA (National Rifle Assocation), incites violence rhetorically, much like her violence-supporting idol, Donald Trump. But these are the same violent folks who want to own Jesus, too.

What Jesus? The gun-wielding Jesus? That is not the Jesus of the New Testament! You have believed in a false Jesus (2 Cor. 11:3, 4; Gal. 1:8, 9). I beg the likes of Franklin Graham, Robert Jeffress, Dana Loesch, Ann Coulter, and all who have adopted this false Jesus as the Jesus of the New Testament, abandon this false nationalistic god and trust in the Savior written about in the Gospels. Read Matthew, chapters 5-7, and see the heart of the real Jesus, the only Son of God, the only Savior for our wicked times. He will receive you with open arms.

It's the same story it's always been Billy. When it comes to the corporate church, deny, deny, deny, then when you can't deny any longer circle the wagons in order to protect your own. There is no money to be made in exposing your own. I grew up in the Catholic church in the 60,s and 70,s then later in life the first protestant church I loved went through a nasty church split. Open the news any day of the week and find a new scandal, yet we fight to protect those big building at all costs. And while we are all so concerned about wh's got it right and who's got it wrongthe few who actually have it right and worry more about sharing Jesus than they do about enlarging their bank accounts go unnoticed and underfundedIt's no wonder so many people hate "Religion" I'm not to crazy about it myself.

My name is William Birch and I grew up in the Southern Baptist tradition but converted, if you will, to Anglicanism in 2012. I am gay, affirming, and take very seriously matters of social justice, religion and politics in the church and the state.
